With the series desert haze, Till Steinberger creates landscapes that consist equally of nostalgia and imagination. It all begins with impressions formed in childhood and youth: 1990s TV-imagery, the rich sounds of grunge and punk rock, the aesthetics of fading Polaroids. Vague images and emotional spaces give rise to scenarios that celebrate an “in-between.” “The unknown is not necessarily threatening, but invites us to approach it.” This idea shapes the vast, color-saturated, transformative desert landscapes that appear as regenerative places.
